Pro Contracting: - money perks - freedom (at times) to work your own hours of choosing - projects varey (ie not stuck on the same project for 2 years) - meet new people/developers (networking, contacts etc).
Con Contracting: - can be given the boot easier then full time. - money is guranteed each month (ie 1-2 months of work missing) - you get alienated when going for loans etc (mortgage). - pressure is less when in fulltime (ie no clock watching req). - alienated in the work place (Ie if your in an enterprise company and say MXDU crops up, the company will pay for the fulltime folks but not you, because your the hired help). I prefer fulltime in the end, i like knowing i have a job each month but at the same time establish mysel within a culture at work. That being said, I am a contractor at my current work (2 years) which is basically fulltime anyway and i've got a few irons in the fire to so to speak about going back out there alone. No rush, but yeah fulltime can also be over-rated especially if the company is small/medium sized. Enterprise full time....no question about it, its the perkiest job of them all.
