I'm not pedantic, just sarcastic and somewhat annoying. Think we all agree that it's a relevent if potentially misleading initial benchmark. > Who would you pick? You do bring up a good point as far as only having so much time for interviews and wanting to get the best applicants in to potentially waste your time. I'm not saying to trick the potential employer, but if you're a gun with 2 years experience and a solid understanding of say OO and familiarity with some of the other scripting languages or experience with application design (vs. just programming), no reason why you can't try to sell yourself. You can also negotiate the $ until you get that extra year.
