The difference isn't there, it's in the fact that an RIA functions fundamentally
differently from an HTML application
I don't think so. A RIA (IMHO a really bad term) with GUI dinamically generated by the server, could have the same methodology than a DHTML application that use XMLHTTPrequest and powerful widgts Javascript driven.
I've also read that it's one of the stated goals for Mach-ii to handle RIA's better
than it does now. "Better support for integration with Flash (this is big on Hal's
list too)"

It would be great if the approach is more generic as possible, to permit to use it with other XML UI Languages like XUL.
