Well, I'm very new to CDBI, but I'll take a crack at it.
The big bonus for me is that I can eliminate the SQL code from my Perl modules, so my code is purely business.
Also, since it's object-oriented, I can do all kinds of neat things like:
$person = My::CDBI::PeopleTable->retrieve( $person_id ); @purchases = $person->purchases;
The only drawback (IMO) is that there isn't a better integration with HTML::Template and that it's a bit wieldy to adopt and setup.
