Are you sure it's the 3.4L V6, and not a 4.3L V6? I know a lot of 4.3L V6's were installed in Astro minivans, and if I'm not mistaken, I believe it's the 4.3L that is considered to be a chopped-off 350. The 3.4L is actually a long-stroke version of the 2.8L V6. As far as the longevity of the engine, there's nothing preventing your engine from reaching over 200,000 miles, but there's also no guarantee that it will. You are correct in your use of synthetic oil, a high grade synthetic oil (preferrably with the use of a fine secondary oil filter) will definitely extend the life of your engine.
