Hi Lojac,
I have the Tremec 5speed TKO in my Chevelle, behind a 550hp/550ft lb 454, and I love it.  It's a very strong, great shifting trans, and is a true Overdrive.  5th is 0.68, whereas the Richmond is a 1:1 5th.   The TKO version is rated at 525 ft lbs, where the Richmond is rated at 425-450ft lb.

I've started a Tremec vs Richmond comparison, see it at:
http://www.tremectransmissions.com/5sp_comparison.html

The 5 speeds are used for drag racing, road racing, and even tow trucks.

The Tremec 6 speed is a good trans also, and is rated at 425 ft lbs.   The gear spreads aren't as good as the Tremec 5sp, and it's considerably larger in size.  It would require modifications to your tunnel, where the Tremec 5 sp will fit in your tunnel without modifications (if you lower the tailshaft by 3/8").

See here for a very detailed account of my installation:

Feel free to ask more questions.  I'm a Tremec distributor, and have learned quite a lot about them.
I can also offer a discount to the list members.  :-)
