There are 2 harnesses "under the hood". There is the engine harness and the front lamp harness. Unfortunately, my 69 El Camino is over 300 miles from here, so I can't go out and look at the wires and/or how they are routed. When you say "the original harness" is the new one different? My new ones are set up for HEI & internal regulator, whereas the originals were not. IIRC, the regulator connection is on the forward lamp harness rather than the engine harness. You may be looking at some wires that went to the external regaulator. On the driver's side, behind the headlights, the voltage regulator and horn relay appear to be the only wired components. The voltage regulator has a plug connector, but does not appear to have any screw attachments. The horn relay appears to have one wire attachment. At that location, the original harness has two separate heavy wires (one red and the other a darker color) that require a screw attachment. Can anyone tell me where the two heavy duty wires attach on the left side (drivers) behind the headlight openings?
