Is there a circuit breaker in the ignition switch on my '64? I'm seeing some strange behavior in my wiring.
Basic issue - trying to start the car. I've replaced the ignition switch/lock and key due to rust, and plugged it right into my old ignition harness. I've traced power from my battery (+) to the horn relay, to the engine firewall connector, to the interior firewall connector behind the fuse box. Test light is bright at every stop along the way. However, the power stops there...at times. Twice today I've gotten power to the ignition switch, at which point I inserted my key/lock mechanism, turned it to start, and "poof" nothing. Still get power at the interior firewall connector behind the fuse box, but no power to the ignition switch battery lead. I traced this wire and it trees with the main lead to the lighter, and the main lead to the light/dimmer switch. I also can get power (test light) at the "tree" but the moment I try to get power at the ignition lead, nothing. Then to make matters worse, I can't get any power at the tree again. 40 year old wiring is driving me crazy. I may be getting bad continuity, but I'll have to do it later, since I loaned my continuity tester out. Grrr. So, is there a circuit breaker somewhere that I don't know about? All my fuses are new.
