Flowmaster makes a nice kit for A bodies with 2.5 inch pipes and Flowmaster 30s. The sound is not quiet if that is what you are looking for. It has a throaty idle and gets loud above 4000 RPM. Got mine on Summit Racing for about $400 total.
Best practice is to "match" the pipe size with the volumetric efficiency of the engine. But I think a 2.5 inch size with crossover would work great with a chief 400 with street headers.
