Scott,

I did find the number in my GM Restoration Kit but only amid a listing of 20
or so *Rear Spring Specifications* with no particular model, suspension, or
anything identified. The specs on the springs are:
Assembly code: BM
Cut-Off Length: 92.6
Wire Diameter: .539
Total Coils: 5.65
Deflection Rate (lbs. per inch): 130
Height (free): 13.08
Working (IN. @ lbs): 9.00 @ 530

These are prefaced by, "Selected from a family of springs by Electronic Data
Processing which identifies the correct spring for the weight of the vehicle
including optional equipment ordered by the customer."

There's probably 30 or more front springs listed the same way. I checked
the build sheets I have for 69s and don't show a F41 option on any of them -
even COPOs. I do see BM coded in box 14 in quite a few of the examples I
have (all SS396 optioned cars). I only see one with RPO F40 suspension
called out though. I have some for L78 cars, one (Kansas City) with BL rear
springs, one each (Fremont & Baltimore) with BM rear springs and one
Baltimore L78 that I can't make out the code. The BL specs differ from the
BM in two areas only ~ Height (free) is 12.77 and Working (In @ lbs) of 9.00
@ 490.

Interesting: 3 Baltimore, 2 Kansas City, and 1 Fremont car also lists RPO
*F62 Front Springs and RPO *G62 Rear Springs where my single Framingham
sheet does not list these. All three 396 engines are among those 6 cars as
well; L34, L35, and L78. Note the asterisk (*) in front of the springs RPO
code. This indicates "Standard" which means they were installed on the
assembly line and not referred to the body shop or trim shop for special
attention.

Check out the build sheets I have at
http://www.chevellestuff.com/69velle/69_build.htm and maybe you can find
some help. (?)
