Well said.  I don't feel as you do that the 65 was the only Chevelle ever made but its my car of choice.  I've had 4 including my present one & wish I still had my original L-79 that I bought in 65.  I also wish that I could have found a way to obtain a Z-16, my dream car of choice.  A few have crossed my path but the time was never right & later on just 4 years ago the price was already far above my hobby budget.  Anybody out there with a Z-16 needing restoring, Go for it!  IMO these are investor cars.  4 years ago an unrestored museum Z was offfered at $200k.  What's a restored to perfection one worth today?
I just viewed some BJ Auction results.  Can someone tell me how they price some of this stuff.  Of the 879 cars, I felt like I was looking at every Best of Show car in the country.  Some were reasonably priced but most were off the scale from what I see at shows.  Many were Non #'s, mods, drivers, etc.  I understand the true value of a #'s matching trailered museum quality car.  There's alot of beautiful cars out there going for $30-40.  All these $100k+ things are mind boggling.  I don't understand.  What am I missing?  Are there that many people out there with more $$ than brains driving up these prices or is there a network of buyers & investors flipping?  Or is BJ the snake oil salesman of cars?  I don't have a clue.  Anyone?  Just thinking out loud as usual.  No offense to anyone.

Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] Trailered vs. Non-Trailered Cars at shows

Years ago when I was at a car show it dawned on me what a jerk I was about certain cars being displayed. The particular car that I had been looking at was a GM car from the 60's that I really thought was a POS. While I was standing there thinking about the car I heard the owner talking to another guy. He was talking about all the hard work he had done and how on his limited income he had struggled for years trying to make his car presentable. It then dawned on me not everyone can put thousands of dollars into a car.( I still feel the only Chevelle ever made was the 1965 but that is my problem< JK>) >From that day on I have had a completely different attitude about Queens vs Drivers vs unrestored cars vs ugly cars vs unpopular cars vs etc. .Just because I don't like a certain car doesn't mean that its not a nice car .I know many think its horrible to take a nice car and put late model running gear or make a race car out of a numbers matching. Bottom line ? If it's your car, Do what ya want to do . If its someone else's car respect them for what they have done not what you think should have been done.
