Brad,

Thanks for the offer, but like you, I would like to run the bigger clutch. I spent some time with my machine shop guy, and he told my my engine should put out 425 to 450 HP, so I'm thinking I should go with the larger clutch...

Larry,

You could have extended your drive and picked it up while you were almost close!  I have a 3858403 (which just happens to be a prime number!?!) bellhousing that will work as long as you stick with the small clutch.  In fact, that is why I have the extra.  I plan on using the 11" clutch for my Corvette, and the old bellhousing will not fit the big clutch.

I have some pictures I took of it when I pulled it so others can see what it is like.  It has two very tiny cracks, but still "rings" nicely.  You can only see the cracks in the close-up pictures, but in the full view, one is in the green area at the left, and the other is just to the left of the left hole on the bottom.

I'm sure we can work something out if you want it, but you may also be able to find one locally, or one without even a tiny crack as they are more common than the big ones that I needed (and spent $100 for).  I can touch up the paint if you need it!

Well, I picked up an M-20 tranny for my 396 from Matt here on the list. I will run that for a bit, and hope to upgrade to a 5 speed tranny once the car is on the road...

I still need to pick up a clutch setup and a bell housing. I plan to buy the clutch parts new. What's your thoughts on used bell housings? Also, if I have to but one anyways, should I just consider a scatter shield instead?

And finally, anybody on the list have any for sale?

Thanks,
Larry
