The best way I found to do it is with a scraper and a heat source. . I've used a propane torch and a heat gun. I like the heat gun better. Lest chance of fire. I got a cheap one from Harbor Freight ($9.00) and it made it through two cars before it burned out. I did mine on a rotisserie. It could get real nasty on your back :(

  I have a question regarding the removal of old undercoatings.  I have a 65 Chevelle SS and today I checked the underbody.  I think it still has the original undercoating.  Last winter I put in a new carpet and the floorpans were in real good shape.  I think the underbody is also.  I have read several articles on how to remove this old undercoating and I wanted to see if anyone has some good advice.  I do not want to remove the body.
