It was my cat Princess who died of liver failure. She was a fat and sassy kitty only 2 years old. She ate dog food exclusively.
She was fine one day and the next day she was just off. She deteriorated for about 3 or 4 days. I noticed she was yellow and immediately took her to the vet.
She died about 7 or 8 days later.
The Vet after extensive tests could find nothing wrong with her and classified her death as Liver Failure. He said that it could have been from the exclusive dog food diet. That dog food lacks minerals that cats MUST have.
All I know is she became listless and off her food, developed yellow skin, and went downhill FAST.
It could have just been that Liver Failure was her destined death...I just don't know, but I sure do miss her.

A while back we were discussing cats eating dog food. I knew that it could lead to blindness and I knew there were other health problems that could happen, but do not know a whole lot about it. Someone mentioned something about either kidney or liver failure or something like that. I was wondering if the person who made that post could re-post the health hazards or give me some where to start some research. Trying to find out if a current health problem one of my cats is experiencing could be related to the fact that she eats only dog food, or if it is unrelated. As I said, I always knew it was bad, but am not completely educated on what it can do. Nor am I able to get my cats to eat anything else.Marsha
