Ashley, can you feel her ribs along her side? If you can feel her ribs but not
see them, then she is a good, healthy weight. If you can't feel her ribs
without pushing down on her side, then she may be overweight. If she is not
overweight, she may have just had a big growth spurt. My Chi weighed 3.5
pounds at 6 months old and she is now 7 months at about 4 pounds. So, maybe
your Chi is just going to be a large Chi. I guess all Chihuahuas are different
as far as their growth. I have heard different opinions about the growth of
Chis and I think it's somewhat unpredictable.

I'm glad somebody asked this question bc I have been worrying about
how fast my puppy is growing. I took her to the vet last week for vaccine and
she weighed 4.6lbs. But 3 weeks prior she weighed 3.5lbs. She turned 3 months
at the beginning of this month. I'm worried that she will keep gaining weight
and don't want her to be overweight. I feed her appr. 1 cup of science diet
puppy lil bites dry food everyday and never canned food of any type. Is this
normal weight gain? I thought 1 lb. in 3 weeks was a lot, but I'm new to the
chi breed. Thanks for your help.
