Michelle ,
I have seen a wee bit of whining in a new pup when they are left alone. I am a
sucker for whining and I tend to think of the pup as a child. They don't want
to be alone. If possible - and it isn't always possible - I will carry the pup
around with me. They are like a baby. They want attention and just to be with
everyone. And like a baby - giving attention -gives security. My needs will
always be met . You can't spoil a child and you can't spoil the dog. Make them
feel safe and secure and independence will come. That is just what has worked
for me. As I write this I have 5 of 7 dogs laying relaxed near me and on me.
The other 2 are comfortable enough at this moment to lay where they like. They
always know Mom is here : )

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Any advise would be helpful

I was wondering if anyone has any advise on how to get my puppy to
stop whining. He whines when he doesn't get his way, whenever we leave
the room he's in, and any other time he feels like it. Believe me he
is definately spoiled and gets loads of attention!!! Also, he is
always underfoot and has been stepped on (accidentally) many times.
