Yes, my son is very good with animals but when he was young (about eight and a sturdy strong boy) he was a little rough with the cat I think it was, holding by the leg. I gave him an object lesson, I made him lie on the floor and I dragged him around by his leg a bit. He got it, and never hurt the animals again. I didn't hurt him, but he got how it felt to them.
