Hey Marsha,
I wonder if the local news station, or local Petco or Petsmart, would also
help with a fundraiser? Possibly helping organize a dogwash with donations
going to her surgery or something like that? Or possibly a local groomer
would donate part of their procedes? It's just a thought to help boost
things. In our area, we recently had a self serve dog wash donate all of
their revenue for a day to an ill dog.
Another idea to help with the money part ... the vet inside of Petsmart -
Banfield has a payment plan thing, where the most expensive is whatever
amount - maybe $30.00 amount and they do get specialists in at a discount.
They may have an appropriate specialist that could also do the surgery just
as well or even contract with the same specialist. The only reason I'm
thinking this is that they said that if Elsa someday needs her patellas
fixed, I could get a specialist through them and the surgery at a discount
with one of their plans and pay monthly. Just a thought ... then you would
not have interest to pay. If I have any other ideas, I'll let you know.

This has been such a hectic time for me, financially, emotionally, you
name it. Many of you may know about Dora and the fact that she broke her leg
4 months ago. For those of you who do not know, Dora is my Italian
Greyhound. She is such a great little dog, but this breed has very weak
legs. She broke her leg 4 months ago. We originally took her back to the
lady who we got her from. She took Dora to her vet and even paid the
original bill. After two follow ups, it was clear that the set and casting
they had done was not working, so we then took her to my vet, who performed
surgery and placed a pin in Dora's leg. The pin later bent. She was placed
under anesthesia again and the pin straightened. We were hoping and praying
for the best, but at her follow up Monday, x-rays show the pin is now broke.
The only remaining option is a specialty surgeon in Lexington who can plate
the leg. However, that surgery will cost in the neighborhood of $1,500. I do
not have that kind of money and it is not fair for Dora to continue to
suffer because I can not afford her treatment. My mom and I have decided to
have the surgery and place the bill on CareCredit. The only problem is,
Carecredit has very high interest rates and the payments are going to be
difficult, if not impossible for us to meet. I have reached the end of my
options and do not know what else to do. I have considered surrendering her
so she can get the help she needs, but I love her so much and do not want to
loose her. So I am attempting a fund raiser to try to raise funds for her
surgery. Those of you who know me, know that I am not the type of person to
ask for anything from others, but I am gonna swallow my pride and do what
needs to be done for Dora.

The site also gives a better explanation of how their fundraisers work. I am
simply sending this to my entire address book, so if this offends you,
please just delete.....

Thank you,

Marsha
