I am surprised the vet did not know it is hereditary. I second this , you
really do need to involve the breeder. Is this one that can skip
generations? Maybe her current dogs have never had this?

I have seen it many many times, you need to involve the breeder as this 
came from her lines. Its is never going to go away,it will resurface 
under anything stressful including just changing food. This is 
hereditary and the breederneeds to know so she wont breed that female
