It's a game.  If it's a safely enclosed yard call him once, if he doesn't come 
shut the door and ignore him.  When he comes to the door and comes inside 
praise him. It won't take him long to learn that game has played out.  However 
if he escaping into an unsecured area, work with him on the leash method.

Maybe a treat will work, a toy won't.  He used to come when I called him and I 
always praised him  but lately, he just acts like he doesn't even hear me and 
if I go towards him, he starts playing "catch me if you can".  He can run in 
circles, fast as lightening.  I guess I will have to put him on a leash each 
time he goes out back or do the corral thing.  I keep waiting for him to settle 
down but don't know if that's going to happen.  I am also going to look into 
obedience classes but might wait until Spring or at least until the weather is 
better.
