If it's a safely enclosed yard call him once, if he doesn't come shut the door and ignore him. When he comes to the door and comes inside praise him. It won't take him long to learn that game has played out. However if he escaping into an unsecured area, work with him on the leash method. He used to come when I called him and I always praised him but lately, he just acts like he doesn't even hear me and if I go towards him, he starts playing "catch me if you can". He can run in circles, fast as lightening. I guess I will have to put him on a leash each time he goes out back or do the corral thing. I keep waiting for him to settle down but don't know if that's going to happen. I am also going to look into obedience classes but might wait until Spring or at least until the weather is better.
