Your boyfriend was misinformed, lol. The term has nothing to do with the tail. You were correct, it has to do with the size of the pup. It is a term originated by scamming breeders, but has gained some acceptance as being a term simply used to indicate a smaller chi, but the standards do not recognize such term. I mean if you look at the poodle, you actually do have a standard, a toy, ect., but with a chi, it is only a long coat or a short coat....no other terms differentiate it.
so....score one for the woman!!! lol Marsha Do not tell God how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your God is. ----- Original Message ----- From: Anne To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, February 17, 2008 4:47 PM Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Teacup Chihuahuas = WORNG I have heard lots of debate on the term "Tea Cup" when it comes to small dogs. I thought I read on this group once that the term "Tea Cup" was invented by breeders to try and justify charging more for small breed dogs. My boyfriend told me that "Tea Cup" refers to the curve of the tail, ya know comes up like a tea cup handle. However, I thought all Chi's tails curved up like that. Not sure which if either statement is true but just thought I'd share.
