Then maybe you have not seen as many change homes as I have. I have bred chis since 1998. I have bought pups, I have sold pups, and I have had a lot of rescue pups come through my home.......I HAVE seen how much harder it is for them to adjust as they get older. Berry is STILL having a hard time adjusting here....he was such a happy go lucky pup when I picked him up from Sarah of Green Haven Chihuahuas almost a month ago......he is slowly comming back out of his shell, but it is taking a whole lot longer because he knew Sarah's home as his and this is still a new place for him. The pup I just let go was not at all happy to leave me and I cried all the way back home.....he was 4 and a half month.......but when I deliver a pup 8 to 10 weeks old, I see how they do not know a stranger, they run to the newbies the same as they run to a memmber of my house.....they are exploring everything and are open to everything....you can see happiness as they leave, where as with an older pup, you see only sadness......
