You don't say how old your mother is but my major concern would be what happens to all of those dogs when she is gone. At my age, I know Emiliano and Beau my parrot, will both outlive me, so I have made provisions for them both in my will. I would love another puppy, a canary, and a budgie, but I know that if I were to get them, I would be committing my family to more than they have expressed a willingness to do and I wouldn't want those animals to end up in a kill shelter or even a rescue center.
