That is such a HARD question!!! I say the answer depends so much on your mom's lifestyle!!! I...right now...have 7 dogs...5 little ones and 2 big ones. The 2 big ones are outside in our 1/2 yard during the day but sleep in at night. The 5 little guys are always in with access to a safe covered deck for potty through a doggie door...they all sleep in my room in their own beds. I also have 2 parrots that take a lot of my time, energy and money. I LOVE my animals and I wouldn't want it any other way!!! I know I am already looking for a long haired Chi eventually to add to my little pack. I am 51 years old and am a stay at home mom. We bought a trailer so that when we want to travel the parrots and little dogs can go with us. I have a great back-up-system in place. If something happened to me I have a husband that loves my dogs...and 3 grown children and 1 on the way to be a grown up that all would gladly divide up my pack...they each have their favorites! Does your mom spend her days with them? Enjoy bathing, feeding, training and clean-up? I love all of it!!! If she can do it and DOES it then I say another little Chi is just not that big of a deal!!! If she was wanting a GSD or a Dane or something big I would have a different opinion! I have a dear friend who is 77. She has 11 Yorkies...she sews for them and makes them the cuttest outfits...she loves the grooming and the whole deal!!! She is getting her 12th Yorkie this week and we are all so excited for her! Her dogs are beautiful, EXCELLENTLY cared for, loved and cherished!!! She keeps her house immaculent and the dogs too!!! She LOVES her life!!! So...to me the answer depends on your mom...and if she does a great job with what she has and it makes her happy and her dogs are happy I say a resounding "GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!" Hugs In Him, Deanna
