I don't believe it has anything to do with sex of the dog. It all depends on
how the dog is raised. Who it chooses to favor is usually based upon who the
pack leader is in the family. Most dogs will choose the most balanced
person in the family as their bond because they see the strength in that
person as pack leader.

Also, some dogs that are not acclimated to both human sexes during their
early years, will generally bond to
the sex of the human that they are familiar with. It really has nothing to
do with the sex of the dog

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Water cooler question

What is your opinion of a male dog being closer to a female owner versus a
female dog being closer to a female owner? My friend is in search of a
chihuaua but is adamant that only male dogs will bond with female owners. I
disagree because Jill is closer to me than my husband. Reggie's dog is a
male, and they are best buddies. I promised her that I would ask the group
and poll the opinions. I thinik she's way off base but am anxiously
awaiting your responses.
