Dolly (a female) pretty much bonded to me before we left the pet store (and me to her). She has always been my little shadow, and she just loves for me to hold her and tickle her tummy. Desi (a male) is also bonded to me and to anyone else whether he knows them or not! When I got him, I wanted him and Dolly to bond, so I wasn't there bonding like I was for Dolly. But when Dolly went for her knee surgery, Desi was 7 months old, and he just wanted to be with me the whole time that she was at the animal hospital. In the evenings when I am working on the computer or something, Desi will come and sit near me and cry in his deep little cry tones. When at the same time, Dolly is happy and secure just sitting in the recliner chair with all the blankets being arranged by her to make her coziest. So, I just think that it depends on the dog, not the gender. I thing is also is a result of the nurturing and upbringing in your home. They are just two different dogs each with a time and place where they are more bonded to me.

I think it has to do with how they are raised. They are going to bond with the person who takes care of them the most and is nice to them. Monster is a male and is bonded to me but also loves my fiance. My mom has a female that is bonded to her. We've had other females that bonded to me, my mom, and my stepdad. If she gets a rescue, its going to depend on its past. In my opinion, It has nothing to do with the sex of the dog. My friend is in search of a chihuaua but is adamant that only male dogs will bond with female owners. I disagree because Jill is closer to me than my husband. Reggie's dog is a male, and they are best buddies. I promised her that I would ask the group and poll the opinions. I thinik she's way off base but am anxiously awaiting your responses. Laura
