Wow, Liz, that is quite a story about blue jays attacking your husband to
the point of drawing blood. I hope he wasn't hurt too bad. I think blue
jays are known for their more aggressive personalities, because I notice
when they fly into my bird feeding stations, they squawk a lot, making their
presence known, and the other birds seem to give them a really wide berth.
We too have been dive bombed by our front door by smaller, apparently much
kinder birds, but no one has ever been physically pecked. Remember that
movie," THE BIRDS?" I was very young when it came out and I was petrified of
all birds, especially the crows we had around, for quite a while
afterwards. So glad the bjs haven't bothered your little Chihuahuas.

Although the blue jays here have never paid any attention to the
Chihuahuas, a pair did attack my husband who was out mowing the lawn at our
last
home. Hubby must have unknowingly gone near their nest. Bomb diving in a
team while non stop relentlessly pecking him on the head, they chased a full
grown man into the house. Those blue jays were quite violent for little
birds. Who would have thought? They even drew blood.
