Hi Liz! Well I had never heard of anyone else being attacked by blue jays before you said your husband had either. Being traumatized to the point of having a blue jay stigma, and run in the house any time he sees a blue jay, two together, a real red flag, and who could blame him? You'll probably never discover why they've gone after him and no one else in your family, but whenever I see someone running around in their yard acting weird, I know they're having an issue with some outside species, and one of the reasons I am so against small pets being alone outside. My cats want to go outside every day as soon as the weather get nice, but just the other day when I was outside with Henry, I heard a bird call I was unfamiliar with, but felt it had a large bird sound to its call, couldn't spot it in the trees, so I swooped my little guy up and came inside, no sense in tempting fate. Yes, you're right "The Birds," great movie, I can enjoy it today, but still get a little freaked out by the one big scene. Yeah, my kids and I used to feed the ducks and geese down at the lake near us, they loved saving up bread for them, but soon the geese became pretty aggressive, as you said, and the kids were a little too afraid for it to be a pleasurable experience anymore so we stopped going. But did you see the story on tv about the goose that started following this one man around the park in LA he goes to? She waits by the side of the road for him to come every day and won't let the other geese around him. She's defended him from dogs, pit bulls even, tries to follow him home by flying alongside his scooter, but it turns out Maria is a "he" and so the guy is calling him Mario now. He said he used to think birds were dumb, but now he has stopped eating poultry. Ha! Sure hope your husband doesn't have any more blue jay incidents. Lynn message dated 5/7/2011 9:59:30 P.M. I don't know of anyone else who has ever been attacked so violently by a blue jay. But that pair was really angry. After the "big" attack, my husband refused to mow the lawn if they were visually anywhere around. They'd gone after him before (no pecking- just dive bombing) and then continued to go after him after that one day. I remember one day as my mom and I watching out the patio door as a little blue jay swooped down at hubby on the riding mower. Before giving it a second chance to really do damage, he stopped the mower and ran into the house. My mom thought that was odd. But she wasn't there the day, the blue jay drew blood. Funny, but no one else in the family - nor the dogs - ever had a problem with the jays. Just my husband, and they seemed to always go after him if they saw him. Yes, I remember the movies "The Birds". It's been on Turner Classics. If you first saw it as a very young girl, I can see why you were frightened of birds for a while. Great movie. Scary scenario. Geese and swans can also be very aggressive - especially when they have babies. Liz
