Maybe Lily was in a cage for a long time before you got her.  In that case, she may get tired quickly, which would also explain walking to the mailbox and wanting to be carried back.  Give her some time to be running around the house and she will build up her leg muscles!

Hi Mare,
Thanks for the ideas. I have been trying the warm compresses as well, she does ok with it so I know it must feel good. I will just continue with the antibiotics and the warm compresses.
My Lily is a smooth coat and is white with 2 brown spots on her back, looks like someone spilled coffee on her. Bambi is smooth coat and all tan. I know what you mean about loving them! I don't know what I would do without them!
Lily is so lazy! I bought a dog stroller and now, she won't walk! I put her harness on her and she just stands there looking at me and then the stroller! Once in a while I can get her to walk to the mail box but she won't walk back, I have to carry her!!! Too funny! Bambi likes to run and walk, I don't put a leash on her most of the time. She is really a good dog and minds well.
That's all for now.
Thanks again, Tracy

Hi Tracy

Welcome to the group. I am Mare living in Northeastern Oklahoma..close to Big Cabin. I have three chi boys. First is Hercules a black and tan smooth hair who is 5 years old, then Spanky his son(we had to put his Momma to sleep) who is about 26 month sold and is redish fawn and smooth haired and finally Little Man who IA about 8 months old and is a smooth haired Fawn, We love these little tykes with all of our beings !

Now to address your little Lily's problem with her bottom. You could put warm compresses on it a few times a day for comfort and to help it continue to drain. She probably bothers with it because to is uncomfortable and sore,

The warm compresses will probably feel like Heaven !

So glad you joined our group.

Til' later,Mare

Hi Everyone!
I am the mom to 2 chihuahuas. 1 named Lily who is 4 lbs and Bambi who is 12 lbs. I love them so much! We live in Southern California, Riverside County. It is 100 degrees here today! I am ready for winter!
I have a question for anyone who may be able to help me. My little girl, Lily had to go to the vet last week. It cost me $100 which I can not afford. The problem was one of the anal glands. It had an abscess and it looked like a big pimple on her little bum:(. The doctor opened it and gave her a shot (you have never heard something so small make so much noise) I have antibiotics to give her at home as well. I have noticed her licking or biting at the sore. So, my question is should I be doing something else for her? She is 2.5 years old and this is the first time she has had the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I don't want to have to take her back to the vet if I can help it. She will probably flip out if she sees him again so soon! LOL
Anyway, thanks for reading this and any ideas would be appreciated.
