Here is a related tip.

Many MOBO's use standard 10-pin IDC headers for COM Port interfaces.  You
must refer to the technical manual for your particular MOBO to see the
pinout used, but it has been my experience that most are carefully laid out
so that if you purchase an IDC, 10-pin "socket connector", a piece of 10-pin
flat ribbon cable, and a DB-9 bulkhead connector with an IDC connection on
the back (all of these parts are available at  http://www.digikey.com) and
assemble them, things work out so that you have a normal COM port connector.

I haven't looked at your layout in detail, but apparently it did not conform
to this de facto standard so, as always, the user beware.
