I have found the fault..it's the serial cable. I though all serial connectors are standard for all MOBO. This is what I did: the lay-out of my 9 pin header for COM2
6 7 8 9 Blank (for reversed protection) +---------------+ | * * * * | | * * * * * | +---------------+ 1 2 3 4 5 as you can see, the pins are arranged somewhat like the pin arrangement of DB9 connectors I thought.. I check if pin 5 of the header is connected to ground and it is.. so I decided to solder pin 1 of the header to pin1 of DB9,pin 2 to pin 2 and so on.. Try it and it works!!!!
