After setting up cifs shares
sharing them with sharesmb=on
Joind a windows workgroup (home) that all windows machines on home lan
belong to and are visible on in windows `network places'.

Even then, only one windows machine can access the osol cifs shares.

And even that machine can not display it in `network places'.

On that one machine if I type \\server\share into windows file
browser tool (explorer). It will access that share. But still never
shows up in the `network places' dialog.

Oddly the other 3 windows-xp machines cannot see it and cannot access
it. (all lan machines have the same user names as accounts)

Is there some extra special trickery to make the osol server visible
in windows `network places' and accessible to all the windows machines
on the lan.

One machine can access the osol server so the smb/server is serving
it.

As I mentioned I did do:
smbadm join -w HOME (the group all machines are on)

and smbutil shows my server shares ok:

(run from the server)

smbutil -v view //zfs
smbutil: Failed to get NetBIOS node status.
smbutil: krb5_cc_get_principal
smbutil: krb5_cc_get_principal (extended security negotiate)
Password:
Share Type Comment
-------------------------------
zreader disk zhosts disk zansil disk zharvey disk ipc$ IPC Remote IPC zbk disk zmob1 disk zbjp disk
All the `z' named shares are accessible from one windows machine but
not the other three.

And on 3 of the windows machines, typing \\192.168.0.36 (servers ip)
into the windows File browser (explorer) fails.

All lan machines have the same user names accounts.
There have been several reboots on both the windows side and server
side.
