Yes, all 192.168.0.0/24 Its a home lan where I've been accessing these machines from linux samba server and the machines have likewise been accessing the samba server for years. All the machines show the linux samba server in `network places' (except linux machines of course) I'm trying to build up a zfs NAS for backup on this lan. It been a serious pain in the booty so far. What is so puzzling is that 1 windows xp can access the zfs server. But even that one cannot display it in `network places' I wouldn't care about that except that my windows appliances that do the backups (`Retrospect-7.x' for serial backup and acronis for image backup) Both applications expect user to be able to navigate to the receiving file with standard navigation in windows explorer like dialog, accept there is no `location' box where I might type in the server address, and need to be able to navigate to it in the normal windows way. Afshin, do you have a osol server that windows boxes are capable of showing in the windows `network places'? If so, what diagnostic information can I give you that would allow us to see a difference in setup... ? Do you have special permissions on yours? I saw advice somewhere saying that fellow used: chmod A=everyone@:full_set:fd:allow pool/filesystem I tried that on one share... I saw no difference at all, other than the permissions changed to 777. _______________________________________________ cifs-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/cifs-discuss
