Even with that set, I still get the "strobing" affect of there being frames
of only the overlay, and the "transparent background" is black, then back
to frames where it is overlaid correctly.

I'll roll through.

I typically do screen recording in linux and just need to clean the video
when I'm done (chop the ends and maybe overlay to "hide" some personal info
that gets captured during the video, like my login name / email / etc.

Any chance there's a "howto" for noobs on just those basics? (I'll check
your site)

Yeah, I can see the investment potential. I like the special effects you
can add. I typically switch between screens during my screen recording,  so
having really top-notch transitions will be a big plus.
