Where do you find these, David? And are they really covered with silver? Francis Bacon would love it. I've never heard of Dogal strings, either, but I used to use silk-and-steel fir the basses on my Hintz guittar. They are too stretchy for the Preston tuners, though. I also use harpsichord wires for the trebles - iron for the top two, brass for the middle two. I think I've mentioned before that the sound and feel of iron are totally different from steel. I've never used a wound 4th on the guittar, just a .048 plain brass. However, I'm about to order some single Newtones - what gauges would you suggest for a guittar with a 50cm string length? a 66cm bouzouki? Only the would strings, not the plain ones.
