Sally
One of my girls has had throat ulcers for almost 8 years. No treatment has
been successful. I have tried at least 7 different antibiotics and
homeopathic remedies including immune boosters and nothing has helped. A
friends Cavalier (unrelated) here in the area also had the same problem - she
had a biopsy done and results were unconclusive - so I never put Midori
through that procedure as a biopsy of the throat is very painful. She has
also done steroid treatments with no success as well.

There was a write up in the Vet Medicine Journal about 7-8 years ago about
these throat ulcers and Cavalier's were used as an example. Believe they used
either 5 or so Cavaliers and showed treatment/progress made with medication.
I wish I could be more exact but this is what I remember as it stated.
1) Cavalier was treated with steroids and some improvement
2) Cavalier was treated with steroids and ulcers disappeared.
3) Cavalier was treated with steroids and some improvement but ulcers came
back
4) Cavalier was treated with steroids and no improvement
5) Cavalier was not treated and ulcers disappeared but came back

results were very inconclusive that treatment helped at all. I never did try
steroids on Midori as I can not stand them :o)

Midori is my biggest toy player in the house (beats the puppies hands down!)
and her eating has never been interrupted :o)
