Sharon, and list ,

Having met you at my very first visit to a CKCS show
in 2000, I have to agree about the social aspect of
the CKCS. I loved the all day affair, cavaliers only,
and being judges by those who know the breed
standard! The toys and gifts and trophys were'nt too
shabby either.

Although new to Cavaliers and Dog breeding, but having
bred horses for over 20 years, I have to say that this
division between the two registries is very difficult
for a newcomer to assist in informed choices.

I have been watching these emails unfold, and what it
tells me is that we need to unify. It is not fair that
an AKC only bitch or dog should be excluded from the
CKCS venue, but the latter can have the best of both
worlds. And, I for one am challenged with a health
problem. If I could not use my dear friend, Karen
Galipeault , to handle my gorgous dogs through this
health crisis, then I would be breeding without
showing, which would make me a " backyard breeder or
puppy mill" in the eyes of the serious breeder. Of
which I most certainly am not.

Lastly, I own an AKC only male, who's conformation,
movement, and many other attributes were the deciding
factor in my purchasing him, yet I cannot breed to him
from any of my currant bitches, as they are dual
registered. How unfair is that? I was also told by
someone at the last AKC show I attended that I may be
violating a CKCS rule just by owning him!
Rediculous!!!There is no way I will pass up a super
dog for any club. I just want the best dogs, and the
opportunity to show them, and make new friends and
mentors along the way.

That being said, I wish we could resolve these issues,
and move on. For the betterment of the breed. Tell me
something...why don't other countries have the same
challenges we are having? Sorry for the long winded
response.

Kind Regards to all,

Terri Taylor-Easterbrooks
