There is still no comparison. When our AKC dogs are shown to their
chs--they do not need to compete against champions--ever to get points
(unlike your shows). The entries are not usually 30 here--more like 10.
Yes, there are a FEW shows with 30, or even 60, but percentagewise a very
small amount. More than likely you have more Cavalier specialties (than AKC
does at this point in time) to attend each year as well.
If someone is going to try to tell me that it would be just as easy to learn
breed type by attending AKC shows in my area as it would by attending CKCSC
specialties--well they are welcome to their opinion, but I am willing to bet
my life that it wouldn't be for the lion's share, if not all, of the new
breeders. With the poor quality being shown these new breeders ARE learning
breed type all right--just not the right breed type!
Please note, I am not trashing AKC shows. All I did was answer WHY CKCSC
shows are *better* than AKC shows. I am totally for the AKC issue.
Also note: because the Cavalier is still rather new to the AKC, a very high
percentage of the judges have no idea what good breed type is either. Of
the 30 or so shows I attended this year--the Winner's Bitch was of
exceptionally poor breed type in the majority of them. The higher the
entry, the better job the judges did. Again, numbers of entries makes the
difference in learning breed type--even to experienced judges.
