quality exhibits as well--but they have been dwindling over the years. The
puppy classes always start out with hopefuls but by the time they are out of
the puppy class--many of them are no longer being shown. As for AKC
shows--you would not believe what is being shown in my area-- AND WINNING!
Not one single time have I ever seen such poor exhibits win at a CKCSC
show--not once--ever. >>
I see so many of the SAME dogs in both AKC and CKCSC that I really can't
agree with this. I can honestly say that the depth is better at a CKCSC show
in my opinion but mainly because the numbers are so much higher. Percentage
wise I don't think there is a rather significant difference in quality. But
10% of outstanding dogs at a CKCSC show could be 20-30 dogs where at a normal
AKC show the same 10% may be 1 due to number of entries.
It IS harder to get a CKCSC championship as there are less shows and greater
number of entries not to mention no pro handlers allowed (YEAH). But I have
seen sub par dogs finish in the AKC and I have seen sub par dogs put up in
the CKCSC. One in particular comes to mind that was obviously limping around
the ring and was put up for class win. I guess the look on my face was
obvious as the person next to me leaned over and said that the judge of that
day was showing in an upcoming show where the owner of the dog would be
judging. Happens in both venues I guess.
