Hi, Stephanie,
You bring up some excellent points!

While I've not been to OZ or NZ, I am hoping to go someday in future!
(I've discussed this many times with friends in OZ; truly want to see
the Cavaliers there). I do believe that most of us who are seriously
involved in Cavaliers have been to the UK or are planning to go again
and again. I would highly recommend to those who have asked where to
see Cavaliers that they DO go to the UK and to other countries.

Now, this is a point I hadn't thought of, but of course you are right.
Additionally, Cavaliers must have started in exactly the same way both
in the UK and in the U.S. How did those coming just after Mrs. Pitt
recognize breed standard when they saw it?
Part of all of it is knowing dogs in general and being able to read a
breed standard and interpret it as to particular dogs. I think that
those who look at ALL dogs and not just Cavaliers have a leg up on
getting a good eye for standards. I've never contemplated becoming a
judge, but I can see where it is of great benefit to judge several
breeds as you do!
