Thanks, Annette, and all the others who have answered...
        This is what I thought; it made me a bit concerned that my
opthamologist would consider a surgery on such a young pup for a not
terribly serious problem.  However, I know that this buyer is
particularly bonded to her pup and perhaps worries overly much about
small things.

However, I wanted my advice to her to be more than "I've never heard of
a puppy having surgery for this".  May I have permission to reprint your
advice and send it to her?
