Breeders, as a whole, do not keep their dogs till they die.  Most sell their
puppies or show/breeding stock when they're through with them.  It's
pet owners who buy a dog and invest their souls into these dogs.  And
pet owners do not see owning dogs as a business.

Nobody is saying that pet owners have all the answers......heaven knows if
that were the case we'd have a lot more discriminating buyers out there.  But
neither do breeders have all the answers.  Too many of them 'talk-the talk'
(quite well, I might add) then turn around and make one exception after another.
There's always a reason (or excuse).

Of course we want dogs that are bred for type, otherwise we wouldn't want a
Cavalier, would we.  BUT, that doesn't mean dogs should be bred without
doing *everything* possible to stack the deck in favor of health at the same time.

There are some very creative excuses for not breeding according to the recommended
protocol.  And I'm not here to debate them.  I'm AM wondering how the attitude of
"Us vs. Them" is going to help.....as in the following comment posted earlier:
