I agree! Though I do OFA, I do it VERY reluctantly. I would far rather
spend the money for an orthopedic vet who I know to be good then send
$15.00 to three vets I don't know for a "quicky" reading on radiograph.
ALL my breeding dogs have had hip xrays; not all have been done by OFA.
(Though I've gone over to doing it now that it is requested so often.)
OFA supposedly is getting better. However, they are horribly
inconsistant. Want to test that thought? Send in the same xray a few
times. LOL I much preferred being able to have the xray and
accompanying report and say to another breeder that they were free to
take it for exam by their specialist.
PennHip which is a bit better can ruin a dog if done wrong and there
are no good Pennhip practioners in most areas.
I use CERF but *sometimes* I don't bother to send them in. Sometimes I
remember. I do keep the paperwork in each dog's files for anyone to
view. It never occured to me that anyone would look me up in a database
that way? I assumed if they wanted to know they would ask; I would
provide. I guess I'll have to get in gear and start sending in the
paperwork if you all are going to check on me. <VBG>
