Michael, my feeling has always been that we are all in the same hobby. We
all share a love for the dogs. I don't understand why we can't be open
about health testing on our dogs. I don't understand why so many of my
friends in the breed criticized me when I told people that we had produced
two pups in the same litter with luxating patellas....even though both
parents were clear. I didn't understand why my friends told me that I had
made a big mistake by saying that we had produced a puppy with an
undescended testicle. I am doing the best that I can to breed healthy dogs,
but when one of our puppies has a problem, my first instinct is to look to
other breeders for support and maybe some helpful suggestions on how to
avoid the problem in the future. I am discovering that I have been
mistaken. We really aren't at all the same, and the general feeling out
there seems to be to criticize one another for a variety of reasons. We
should all be sharing information with each other and trying to support the
breed by testing and sharing the good news as well as the bad. That isn't
what is happening. Myra Savant
