Myra, I am talking about the information contained in a database which
is available on the internet, whether the test results are for eyes,
hearts or patellae.

IMHO an OFA evaluation is necessary for hips and of course the results
will be registered and available on the OFA's database because OFA did
the evaluation. I should have stated this exception in my post.

But insofar as eyes, patellae and hearts are concerned, none of these
results need to be registered, as they are fully evaulated by the
veterinarian who conducted the test. The testing veterinarian merely
fills out a form and the information contained on the form can be sent
to OFA or to CERF to be included in their databases for a fee. I
believe it is possible that many responsible breeders who have eyes,
patellae and hearts tested don't spend the money to have the test
results registered in a database and that the absence of test results
for these conditions from publicly available databases doesn't mean the
tests haven't been done.
