One of the things that I do (maybe its a combination of my legal/veterinary background or maybe I'm just cynical) is that I require 3-5 reference (a neighbor, a friend, a co-worker etc.) with telephone numbers and prior to making my final decision, I do call. No I don't breed that often and yes it is time consuming but these are my babies and I need to know. Computers make background checks easier.
