I spoke with Dr. Hutch yesterday about this. For our friends overseas, he is sort of the canine repro specialist guru in the U.S. He feels that it is unnecessary in an otherwise healthy bitch with no history of misses. He also felt that prophylactic treating with a broad spectrum antibiotic runs you the risk of causing complications by killing the good flora.
