I use the rubber maid containers too. We have even taken a girl to the vet and had her whelp in route in the rubber maid container. We take a towel and a heating pad in the container so that we have a warm place for the puppies at the vet (if there is a c-section) and for their transport home. I don't use the top so cutting a hole for the cord isn't necessary. All the best, Susan Cochran
