Hello Alida: I think virtually all digital cameras come with some form of transferring them to your computer, and scanning isn't necessary at all. In my case, with a Nikon 990, I use either a usb cable, or a little gadget called a San Disk image mate. The card from the camera goes into the San Disk, and the pictures are immediately transferred to my computer, into the folder that I choose. Then I work on resizing, etc. using Paint Shop Pro, or PhotoShop. By the way Paint Shop Pro is a fantastic program, and you can try it free for 30 days. The url is http://www.jasc.com
